“Find the Love” by Lena Belle

Harry Belafonte Best Song For Social Change

Find the Love is about the struggle and desire to find love amidst some of the horrific realities happening in our world. The song itself references the problem of missing and murdered indigenous women & girls in the lyric, “My sisters have been taken from the rez. Who took them?”

In advance of releasing this song, I took the time to connect with some Native leaders who are making a change in this area. They led me to connecting with these two organizations: MMIW&P of California (Missing and Murdered Indigenous Women & People of California) and Missing and Murdered Indigenous Women USA. As you can see at the end of the video, I included some heartbreaking statistics about the prevalence of this issue in native communities. For example, indigenous women and girls are murdered 10 times more than other ethnicities. Murder is the 3rd leading cause of death for indigenous women.

I also included ways the viewers can support these above listed organizations on screen and in the video description.

Even though our humankind is facing these heartbreaking realities, we still come together with the desire to find love and healing, with the hope of a better future.

The bridge describes a collective humanity coming together to pray and plant seeds for future generations so that they can live in a better world.
